Fur-gent Problems Handled by Our Urgent Veterinarian in Puyallup, WA
When Does My Pet Need Urgent Care?
Urgent care is for sudden health concerns that should not wait for a routine appointment but are not immediately life-threatening.
Your pet may need urgent care for issues such as:
Ear infections
Vomiting or diarrhea
Limping
Broken or torn nails
Minor wounds or injuries
Coughing or sneezing
Eye redness, squinting, discharge, or green gunk
Allergic reactions
Hot spots or irritated skin
Sudden itching or paw licking
Changes in appetite or energy
Mild pain or discomfort
“Something is off” moments that have your pet-parent radar going wild
If your pet is having trouble breathing, collapsing, having seizures, bleeding heavily, unable to urinate, experiencing severe trauma, or showing signs of extreme pain, they may need emergency care right away. Call us so we can guide you, or contact the nearest emergency hospital immediately.
What Happens During an Urgent Care Visit?
When you call, our team will ask what is going on, how long it has been happening, and whether your pet is showing any emergency warning signs. This helps us determine the best next step for your furry VIPaw.
During your visit, our veterinarian will examine your pet, talk with you about what you have noticed at home, and recommend diagnostics or treatment based on their symptoms. Because we have an in-house lab and digital X-rays, we can often get important answers quickly and start the right care without waiting fur-ever.
Your pet’s urgent care plan may include medications, wound care, lab testing, X-rays, allergy treatment, pain support, eye or ear care, fluids, or additional monitoring. We keep communication clear, practical, and easy to follow, so you know what is happening and why.
What If My Pet Needs Overnight ER Care?
Toptails Vet provides primary and urgent care during regular business hours, but we are not an overnight emergency hospital. If your pet needs 24-hour monitoring, advanced emergency care, surgery beyond what we can safely provide, or overnight hospitalization, we will help stabilize them when appropriate and guide you to a trusted emergency hospital.
Our goal is to get your pet to the right level of care as quickly as possible. Sometimes that means we can treat the problem right here. Other times, it means helping your pet transition to an ER team with the equipment and overnight staff needed for more intensive care.
